I have more to say than what I am about to say, and I hope I remember to say it. I just finished watching a two part documentary called 'The Root of All Evil'. This root basically being; religion.
I agree with much that is said in this documentary, but feel that there is more that could have been said. There was more that could have been analyzed, more that could have been showed as contradictary in religion, and franky; to be bullshit.
Perhaps the presenter of this piece was actually trying to be too nice. I'm going to have to watch it again in order to structure and articulate my thoughts properly.
I want to talk about sin, morality, faith (I believe, I believe, just tell me what to believe and I'll believe it).
Then there's the matter of a god. I frankly find the concepts that religion present us with to be childish and small minded. Science is exposing a universe (or universes) that's so much more elegant and profound than the pathetic stories that religion would haveus believe. If anyone took the trouble of reading about quantum physics or m-theory (string theory), they'd find that the universe that religion presents us with is vastly inadequate to the majesticly complex reality that we are slowly unveiling through questioning and doubt. If I had to choose between doubt or faith, I'd choose doubt every time. I'd rather not know, than believe I know something without truly knowing.
